hang with me . by robyn

"will you tell me once again
how we are going to be just friends
if your for real and not pretend
then i guess you can hang with me

and if you do me right
im going to do right by you
and if you keep it tight
im going to confide in you

i know whats on your mind there will be time for that too
if you hang with me

just dont fall recklessly headlessly in love with me
cause its gonna be a heart break
blissfully painful and insanity
if we agree
you can hang with me

when you see me drift astray
out of touch and out of place
will you tell me to my face
then i guess you can hang with me

and if you do me right
im going to do right by you
and if you keep it tight
im going to confide in you

i know whats on your mind there will be time for that too
if you hang with me

just dont fall recklessly headlessly in love with me
cause its gonna be a heart break
blissfully painful and insanity
if we agree
you can hang with me

will you tell me once again
how we are going to be just friends
if your for real and not pretend
then i guess you can hang with me"

are we all looking for something unreal? because reality doesn't quite cut it for me.

an amazing song. see for yourself:

if only i could tell you. if only words could.

maps . by maroon 5

maps . by maroon 5

just when i thought i had already heard it all from maroon 5, i hear this track, maps. it really is a brilliant, simple, catchy song. some would say its a'churned out' pop song, and i say, yes but its brilliant! adam levine makes the song fresh and fiery with his vocal performance. i have attempted to sing it, and man its high!

they are moving with the times and they are always spot on. staying true to what you do but having the ability to adapt is whats makes careers for bands like this one.

after all, we all enjoy a good pop song every now and then?
have a listen and hear for yourself:

my band toy sparrows will be uploading a youtube cover video of this track in the very near future so watch out for that!

Stutter . by marianas trench

i absolutely love this song. it is so infectious and addictive. i have never heard a beat like it. i have been reading up on this band and they have been around for a while. they are a canadian pop rock band with so much style. for this track they asked a gospel choir to sing the backing, which compliments josh ramseys voice so well. his vocals are punchy and catchy. when i first heard this song i said to the person next to me, this guy can sing, i wonder if he can do it live?! so i looked on youtube and he really can.

this is a great band, please check this song out! i haven't heard much other stuff by them but i will defiantly watch out for them.

and did you know, marianas trench is actually the deepest part of the world's oceans!

i still remember and signs by bloc party

I STILL REMEMBER . BY BLOC PARTY

i, i still remember
how you looked that afternoon.
There was only you.

you said "it's just like a full moon".
blood beats faster in our veins
we left our trousers by the canal
and our fingers, they almost touched

you should have asked me for it
i would have been brave
you should have asked me for it
how could I say no?

and our love could have soared
over playgrounds and rooftops
every park bench screams your name
i kept your tie

i've gone wherever you wanted

(i still remember)

and on that teachers' training day
we wrote our names on every train
laughed at the people off to work
so monochrome and so lukewarm

and I can see our days are becoming nights.
i could feel your heartbeat across the grass.
we should have run.
i would go with you anywhere.
i should have kissed you by the water

you should have asked me for it
i would have been brave
you should have asked me for it
how could I say no?

and our love could have soared
over playgrounds and rooftops
every park bench screams your name
i kept your tie

i would let you if you asked me

i still remember.

whenever i hear this song, i imagine one person in my life. the one person which makes it come alive to me every time i hear it. i have created memories with this person, sometimes just doing every day things and other times exploring the world. i always feel safe with him as i do when i listen to this song.

sometimes you have to let your barrier down in order to experience something great. that is what i think this song is about, along with memories. we all have them, and we all get to enjoy the best ones.

please watch and listen to this video and make your own judgement:
I STILL REMEMBER . BLOC PARTY

SIGNS . BY BLOC PARTY

two ravens in the old oak tree, one for you and one for me
bluebells in the late December, i see signs now all the time
the last time we slept together, there was something that was not there
you never wanted to alarm me but i'm the one that's drowning now

i could sleep forever these days because in my dreams i see you again
but this time fleshed out fuller face in your confirmation dress
it was so like you to visit me to let me know you were ok
it was so like you to visit me, always worrying about someone else

at your funeral i was so upset, so upset,
in your life you were larger than this
statuesque

i see signs now all the time that your not dead your sleeping
i believe in anything that brings you back home to me

here is the link to the youtube video of signs:
SIGNS . BY BLOC PARTY

i like how some of bloc party's lyrics are poetic but not overly complicated. the delivery of the story lets the listener feel through his use of words. the singers voice is unnervingly distinctive and almost echoes perfectly within the music. using repetition as a structure allows the musician to communicate his state of mind.

bloc party are the only band i was sad to see split up, so that is why i chose to write about them. when they were around, they contributed greatly to the demand for electronic music by band lovers. it is almost a retro sound now in comparison to the kind of electronic music you hear in the charts.

you should defiantly check out more stuff by bloc party including flux and hunting for witches. i shall be back with more interested music and what it means to me. i will be writing about echoesmith, marianas trench, owl city, twenty one pilots, mr probs and panic at the disco and so much more! i am also open to suggestions.

thanks for reading!

whole truth . by don boroco

so addictive. i have finally managed to put a name to the sound.
sometimes you find yourself in a sticky situation, this song represents this form of confusion and obsession which i can relate to.

so take your time, while i wait and sweat and wonder..

would you jump overboard? what a mess I made can't take what a mess I made, made, made. the whole truth would break your heart
don't know what to say don't know what to say, say, say

i want to tell you. in a good way.

i follow rivers . by lykki li . the magician remix

this remix by the magician electrifies the swedish singers music into an iconic sounding sensation found in clubs across the world. when i did my ski season in france i remember hearing it everywhere. the song has been around for a long time but hasn't had the chance to glide out of the speakers of places where drinkers and dancers follow the rivers of alcohol.

bon iver

bloodbank . by bon iver

it just happens...

"that secret that you know, but don't know how to tell
it fucks with your honour, and it teases your head
but you know that it's good girl
'Cause it's running you with red

then the snow started falling
we were stuck out in your car
you were rubbing both of my hands
chewing on a candy bar

you said, ain't this just like the present
to be showing up like this?
as a moon waned to crescent
we started to kiss

and i said i know it well
that secret that we know, that we don't know how to tell
i'm in love with your honour, i'm in love with your cheeks
what's that noise up the stairs, babe?
is that Christmas morning creaks?

and i know it well
i know it well"

bang bang . by will i am

all of his songs are works of experimentation. the songs that he produces are like drawings from a sketch book coming to life. he never fails to communicate innovation in his music. he is a hard working musician with so much to tell. all of his live performances echo his music and are always delivered to a high standard.

i first heard this song on the tv show 'the voice' and i was so intrigued. the execution of the song is of such high quality and class. he is experimenting with his voice, words, instruments, modernism and technology. all of the components that he finds interesting. and it works.

he is a very intelligent individual who has transformed into a solo working artist rather than a band member in the black eyed peas. i kinda like his querkiness and it isn't false either. this is a composer i would defiantly like to meet.

seven wonders . by fleetwood mac

i once went on a road trip with someone and it was the happiest i have ever been. i didn't have a care in the world and i was sharing the experience with someone that touched my life in ways that i never thought were possible.

"so long ago, certain place, certain time. you touched my hand, all the way, all the way down to emmiline. but if our paths never cross, well you know I'm sorry but... if I live to see the seven wonders, i'll make a path to the rainbow's end, i'll never live to match the beauty again.

so long ago, it's a certain time, it's a certain place, you touched my hand and you smiled, all the way back you held out your hand, if I hope and if I pray, ooh it might work out someday"

this song reminds me to always look to the future and not be scared of my past.

lucy rose

all i've got . by lucy rose

this charming song is sung by the sweetest performer lucy rose. the place she was in when she wrote this i can make sense of. love can be easily lost, which is why the moment is so beautiful. when i listen to this song these familiar feelings are brought to life. when you give everything to some one the feeling of belonging engulfs you. there is no sense of regret or disbelief in her words, it is just real.

there are only a handful of people you meet that take you by the hand and take you places you don't know.

"all i've got is you"
for now,

all i've got . lucy rose

everything . by lifehouse

this song makes you forget about the past and stops you focusing on the future. there is a feeling of anticipation throughout the song but the journey is perfectly resolved. you feel as if you are part of its formation. the repetition and consistancy of the music entices you.

locked out of heaven . by bruno mars

this guy bas made it his duty to highlight the quality of performing with a real band. his energy is modern, his moves are not necessarily new but its exciting and that is what i think is missing in some artists attitudes to music. it is ok to be influenced by respected icons of the past. you can tell he is. there is a real attitude to his work which is refreshing, i recommend watching bruno mars perform.

it pays you to be experimental, and its ok for people to notice it.

love you more . by sunday girl (rac mix)

i first heard this on the playlist where i work and i suddenly thought, life is good. i am openly transformed.

this version is very different to the original but in my opinion, better. i am pleasantly surprised by her voice, she delivers the song well. it is simple and the beat is catchy which i know is too commonly found these days but, this is good!

you will have a swing in your step, i assure you, have a listen!

(i am back ..and with good music)

dusty road so kind . by deyarmond edison

the song starts up beat and jolly like the rhythm of the truck. it seems there is no need to be sad when you are so happy. then you remember life never takes long to turn things around.

"doesn't take too long to get to you, enough for the sky to turn cheery red from sky blue"

when there are good times there have to be bad. justin vernon (bon iver) makes you sit back and realise in his music that you have to appreciate every second.

"and ill hold you in my arms, and ill hold you in my mind"

other songs to listen too by this band are: first impression and my whole life long.. the next song i write about on here wont be so distressing and solemn if thats what you often think when you read this blog. i will try to cheer up things a little.
